Anthony and Jessie’s lovely wedding reception in Nikko Hotel last night was splendid, well planned and sophisticated. I thought I saw Anthony’s sister Emily shed a few tears during the couple’s walk in. We sometimes dont realise what a special and emotional day it must be for the bride, groom and family members and close friends. Here’s alittle peek of the wedding highlights. Again, pics will be on FB, I promise!
The start of the night. The couple walked in to what I'm sure was one of Tai' Tai's fav songs and headed to cut the cake. Thats one huge sword!
Pop the champagne! The emcee (on podium) left, was an all round entertainment system on his own. He was the wedding planner for the night and worked on Tai &J Jessie's wedding for the past 6 mths.
Congregation of the Tai clan for the toasting ceremony. No reward goes to who can guess which is Mr Tai Senior!
Looks like a family portrait. Mama and her brood. Missing the other 38 mui kai lui of hers....Fr Left: Lengus, Lola, Mama, Tai Tai, Ianmeister, mua, Jims and Stanley.
Old raccoon (left) and crazy raccoon (right), being old and crazy
The 'kelefehs' (i.e. extras) or also known as 'hingtai's' (i.e. "brothers" to the groom) (group on the right). They were called by the emcee and then promptly told to get off the stage to the side. Stage is only for real family! haha
Pre Dinner - Me, Soo Yin, Jules
Jules, Laura, Jimmy and Me. this is like 60% of our table last night.
The whole celebration went down well, no exhibitionist movements were detected (the groom was so sober and well behaved) and so were the ‘hingtai’s. Possibly cos it was held on a Sunday night, so much restraint was exercised since the next day (today) is the first day back at work for most people after Raya hols. I’m so BLUE this Monday I’m turning blue in the face!
Only everybody asked me when is my turn to ‘take the cake’ / ‘bite the dust’ / ‘tie the knot’ but my answer was *shrugg* i dont know. Being a an unmarried woman at 28 is not supposed to be frowned upon in the 21st century. But with your mates from school and uni all popping babies already, its sad that there is some stigma attached to it.
When the response is “i dont know” ….i reckon most people go on to say….”haha, should be next year yah?”…and my response is “i dont know!” cos i really really dont. and i want to say….its OK not to know. Its OK not to have a plan. Its OK if you’re single even and its OK if you DONT want to ever get married! I think i need to write a angst-y song about it ala Avril Lavigne or Alanis Morrisette for all the women out there that fall into this category…..!
