Cebu-lous

Make way for me on the beach with the crystal clear waters tomorrow, people!

FINALLY – after what seemed like forever, we have arrived in Cebu, safely. On arrival, I had already scanned the Chi Spa menu – what is touted to be (and I quote) “The largest and most luxurious appointed Spa in the Philippines” – impressive huh? Well I’ll find out tomorrow.

First and foremost – 1 or 2 pics from none other than my new toy the Canon G10! I had conveniently abandoned plans to cart around my 400D (only cos I couldnt find the lenses last minute) but hell yeah, the G10 will be busy working.

We arrived in the Ninoy Aquino Internal Airport in Manila at exactly 2pm this afternoon as stipulated. When I walked into the airport I felt I had walked back 15 years in time. Everything was very 80’s. We were shuttled off quite efficiently to the newer Terminal 2 for our transit on Philippines Airlines to Cebu.

Terminal 2 - Much better but still a bare minimum...

There were hardly any shops – only tidbit shops and a news stand, Mabuhay (business/first class) Lounge and a smoking cafe/room. Security is pretty tight here, your bags get checked and checked and whether or not the security scanners beep – you get felt up! By the way, a copy of say, the British version of Top Gear magazine at the news stand sells for PHP 1,300 or something (about RM98) MADNESS.

The Philippines Airlines experience leaves alot to be desired. Lavatories with no soap! Terrible! When the plane took off, there was a screech and rattle from my overhead compartment. I peeled back my eyepatch in horror. Anyway, service was good – food not so good.

Managed this from X'000 feet above in the air..pretty, huh?

It was dark and raining by the time we arrived at Shangri-la. The hotel is hardly new, but I’m still really keen to go scavenge around tomorrow – I was promised alot of el-cheapo shopping outside the hotel…so the eager beaver will ‘hit the town’ tomorrow.

And to top off the day’s travelling, a nice dessert…

Mango cheesecake in disguise. Looks better than it tastes though - they really shouldnt tease people that way!

More real-time blogging coming your way tomorrow. To cap everything off…MABUHAY!!!
