Chi Spa – Shang Mactan

Wow – I am quite again the Swa-ku when it comes to spas. But this MUST be one of the most luxurious spas I have ever had the good fortune to experience. Service was excellent and my masseuse, Hannah, didnt mind me snapping away like the swa-ku I am.

I was recommended the “Enchanted Journey” (their names are very mystical and fancy, arent they?) – and enchanting it was. I kept oohing and aahing when I walked through the spa gardens to my very own – wait for it – Villa. The whole experience lasted EXACTLY 2 hours and 30 minutes of sheer bliss.

Just like in the brochures...

Just like in the brochures...Your villa comes with a dressing room and restroom, steam bath, open aired shower and outdoor patio.

You start off with the foot cleansing ritual – where they clean your feet and soak them in coconut water. Then you head outside for this –

This is called the Himalayan Bath Therapy. The water is filled with coconut milk, and its very nice and warm. Tea is served. Once done, you jingle an ancient looking bell and your masseuse attends to you again.

Then, on to the steambath. You sit in the steam room and sweat it out. Your pores open and your skin smoothes over. It was pretty dark inside but smelled comfortingly of aromatheraphy oils. Next, you shower and then get your scrub and massage done – very thoroughly. Even the massage bed and headrest is so soft and comfortable. Nothing like the RM50 massage places I normally go to back home!

When its finished, you change and are told strictly not to shower for the next 2 hours. Then you head to the refreshments area for some fruit and their own special concoction juice. It consisted of chamomile tea, lemon and calamansi. It was delish.

I went back to my room with a spring in my step. It way exceeded my expectations and YES! I’m a happy jan!
